  • Originally scored by Charles Kreeb, trombone player with the Iowa CIty New Horizons Band, for an adult beginning ensemble (of mixed abilities), this arrangement of Wondrous Love is suitable for many types of ensembles. The rhythms and ranges are for groups of players who are nearing the end of their first method book or who have moved into their second. If you have a group with these minimum requirements, this piece should work well for you: junior high school, middle school, New Horizons, community, or college methods- course bands should find it within their reach. Its open-sounding chords, the opportunity to “feel” a piece in 2 vs. 4, striving for a beautiful legato sound, or the few instances of changing meter could all be stepping off points to teaching and greater musical understanding.
  • This work was recorded on the Mark Records CD series “Distinguished Music for the Developing Band Volume 7 performed by the Rutgers Wind Ensemble, William Berz conductor” catalog #6947-MCD.
